Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) will be hosting an Irish Innovation Showcase on 4 October in which 150 companies will be exhibiting. And, as part of the event, there will be a ‘Pitchcrawl’ competition for an early stage firm to win €25,000 in funding and services.
The showcase itself is taking place in Dell Ireland’s Limerick campus. LIT is anticipating more than 150 Irish companies will be showcasing their products and services on the day, with the €25,000 start-up competition only open to exhibitors.
According to the institute, the competition will take a Pitchcrawl format, which is modelled on a trend for start-ups to network with investors and pitch their ideas.
The winning start-up will get equity/seed capital to the tune of €15,000 from LIT’s Enterprise Ladder Fund, as well as consultancy services worth €10,000 that is being provided by Holmes O’Malley Sexton Solicitors, Grant Thornton, The Discovery Partnership, Bridge PR and Kieran Clancy Photography.
LIT’s enterprise development manager Gillian Barry said the prize will be a significant boost for a start-up or early stage company.
The Enterprise Ladder Fund was launched earlier this year as a privately generated fund to support the early and developmental stage for start-ups in the mid-west region.
