Interview: Gene Murphy on Redeem & Get’s Spark of Genius (video)

17 Oct 2012

Redeem & Get is well-known in the Dublin Web Summit circle, having walked away with the Electric Ireland Spark of Genius prize last year. One year on, we caught up with the start-up’s CEO to see what’s come of it.

Gene Murphy and his team faced off against tough competition from more than 100 Irish start-ups to be awarded a business support package worth €40,000 and investment of €100,000.

To win, Redeem & Get needed to pitch their idea in front of an audience of 1,500 people, which requires not just a good idea, but the confidence to back it up – something Murphy thinks every start-up needs to be successful.

Since winning the start-up competition, Redeem & Get has gone from strength to strength, expanding into international markets and launching Deal Manager Pro at the f.ounders conference in June. Murphy tells us what has been achieved since last year’s Dublin Web Summit and future plans for the business.

The Electric Ireland Spark of Genius competition returns to the Dublin Web Summit this year as the largest start-up competition in Europe with the largest prize fund to date. More than 150 high-growth international start-ups will have pitched an idea before the two-day event is out, with finalists and a winner to be announced tomorrow.
