Online learning start-up Apierian has launched a new website called Clevernotes.ie that aims to help students prepare for the Leaving Cert exams via online tools, such as interactive tests, exam tips and a study centre.

The new website is the first online learning offering from Apierian, which was formed last year as a spin-out from the Irish educational publisher Folens.

Teachers and examiners are contributing to the site to provide exam tips, sample answers and study notes for Leaving Cert students.

Clevernotes.ie also features a tool so students can practise for their Irish or French oral exams.

Students will be able to listen to sample dialogue, record themselves and re-play their recordings to check their pronunciations.

Subjects covered by the website will initially include English, Irish, French, biology, geography, home economics, business, German and history. Study materials on other subjects are set to be added in the coming months.

The online offering is aiming to be a cheaper alternative to grinds. To access the Clevernotes online platform, students will have to fork out €50 for membership, which will cover them until the end of the 2013 Leaving Cert exams in June.
