Irish cloud-based learning management software player LearnUpon has closed a €550,000 seed-funding round led by a US-based angel investor and supported by Enterprise Ireland.

The company, which delivers cloud-based learning management services (LMS) for training companies and SMEs, says the funding will be used to expand its presence in its primary markets: the US, UK and Canada.

Less than 18 months after launch, LearnUpon has also confirmed its 100th customer, of which 40pc are based in the United States with a further 34pc in the UK. LearnUpon also has customers in Canada, Ireland, Australia, South Africa, the Netherlands and Spain, and continues to expand into new markets off the back of its growing reputation.

“Following an exciting 2013 where our business grew over 700pc, we are delighted to announce the closing of our funding round which will allow us to implement our goal of becoming the leading cloud-based LMS in the world,” CEO Brendan Noud said.

“When we started on our journey with LearnUpon we wanted to provide a platform that would address the common frustrations that existed with other solutions and our rapid growth to date is testament that we are heading in the right direction.

“We have developed a solution that is super easy to use, is affordable and is backed up by unrivalled customer support. We have quickly become the No 1 choice for any small to medium-sized company that is looking for a cloud-based LMS to train their employees, and for training companies looking to deliver online courses to their clients,” Noud added.
