Cork tech company Pubble is the only Irish company out of 11 companies that have beaten off competition from 1,500 start-ups to be included in London Techstars’ 2014 cohort.

Founded in late 2012 by John Dineen, Shane O’Leary, Ian Huang and Alan Sunley, Pubble uses everywhere customers live online to build an active community on a company website.

“We are thrilled and excited to be selected for Techstars London,” said John Dineen, Pubble CEO.

“This is a massive opportunity for us to really accelerate the growth of our business.”

Pubble works across a firm’s website and compliments existing social channels to help companies grow their community.

The Pubble platform includes products like Threaded Q&A, Live Chatter, Live Questions and Twitter Q&A, designed to help effectively manage a business’s community, leading to increased traffic, time on site and conversions.

Users of Pubble include Education Ireland, INTO Higher, various universities like UL, NUIG and UCC, media companies like Universion and America’s Test Kitchen and law enforcement such as Orange County Court in California.

One of the world’s foremost start-up accelerators Techstars provides seed funding from over 75 top venture capital and angel investors.

Of 234 Techstars companies supported so far, 190 are still active and the average amount of funding raised per company is about US$1.49m.

Mentors include Twitter CEO Dick Costolo and Ben Huh, CEO of Cheezburger Network.
