In its bid to become the SXSW of Europe, the Web Summit has added a number of new summits to its event in November, including Sport, Food, Film and Music.

The Web Summit will take place at various venues throughout Dublin City from 4-6 November, with the main conference taking place in the RDS.

The event expects to host 20,000 people from 100 countries.

The event, now in its third year, is expanding to look at the role of technology in fields such as film, food, sport and music.

Alongside notable tech luminaries, such as Facebook investor Peter Thiel, Nest’s Tony Fadell, Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe and former Apple CEO John Sculley, there will be new speakers from various backgrounds.

These include model-turned-entrepreneur Lily Cole, Desperate Housewives star also turned entrepreneur Eva Longoria, and Oscar winner and visual FX specialist Tim Webber.

The music stage will host Michael Jackson and Doors manager Jeff Jampol, alongside the founders of Soundcloud.

The sports stage will boast data analytics for sports forerunner Bill James, the inspiration behind the Brad Pitt movie Moneyball.

As well as providing a feast of the best of Irish food, the food summit will reveal what a 3D-printed lunch looks like.

Summit founder Paddy Cosgrave said the idea to expand to include new fields reflects the ubiquity of tech in everyday life.
