16 Mar 2015

Developers will now be able to access a hybrid text and image analysis platform capable of detecting 6,000 distinct objects in images thanks to a new capability rolled out by Dublin start-up AYLIEN and Imagga.

Dublin-based AYLIEN’s deal with image analysis provider Imagga means users will be able to bring the smarts of image recognition to their apps and platforms.

It means they will be able to processs and tag massive amounts of images through the API in real-time.

Potential use-cases inlcuding ad-targeting, media monitoring and social listening.

“In today’s media, text and images are two sides of the same coin and must be analysed and understood in tandem to get a holistic view of what’s going on in the world,” explained AYLIEN’s CEO Parsa Ghaffari.

Hybrid solutions

Ghaffari, a native of Iran who selected Dublin as the location for his start-up, has been working on his software technology for a few years now, initially as a consumer play before pivoting in the more viable direction of business-to-business technology.

His company has received ventue capital backing from SOSventures and is focused on applying artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to problems in the news and media space.

“There’s a strong demand among our customers for image analysis capabilities, and after evaluating a number potential partners Imagga came out on top.

“We’re quite similar as companies in many ways, and share the same values and goals. This is just the first of many more hybrid solutions to come,” Ghaffari said.
