Last year's weAREhere Unconference

The fantastic weAREhere is back with a new ‘unconference’ for 2015 – and one lucky Silicon Republic reader is in with the chance of winning a pair of tickets to the event.

Following on from the success of its unFAIL unconference last year, this year’s event will focus on TIME.

WeAREhere is a collaboration of women in tech groups in Ireland who work together to promote and encourage women in the science and technology sectors.

This year’s unconference is in association with Tech Week, supported by the Irish Computer Society, and takes place on Saturday, 25 April in the Guinness Enterprise Centre in Dublin.

An unconference is a democratic gathering of people interested in sharing thoughts and ideas about a certain topic – speakers and talks are selected on the day and all attendees are encouraged to get involved in some way.

The unconference, and weAREhere in general, focuses specifically on the areas of tech, digital, science and entrepreneurship.

Event organiser Vicky Twomey-Lee, founder of EventGeek.iethinks people should attend this one-day event because: “It’s a great opportunity for people from various female-friendly organisations and industry backgrounds to share their experiences and learn from one another in a friendly atmosphere.”

The unconference is organised by Coding Grace, Digiwomen, Ireland Girl Geek Dinners and Plyladies Dublin, and supported by Askaton, CoderDojoGirls@DCU and Women in Technology and Science Ireland (WITS).
