Recruitireland's database has been breached to get email addresses and names for spamming, the site says in a message on its homepage
Gardaí are investigating a breach of data on job recruitment website recruitireland.com yesterday afternoon. The Data Protection Commissioner has also been made aware of the breach.
The names and email addresses of the site's users appear to have been compromised for spamming, though in a message now on its homepage recruitireland.com says no other data, including CVs, usernames or passwords have been compromised.
The message does recommend that recruitireland.com's users change their usernames and passwords when the site is back online.
"We have a process in place for eventualities such as this; when we were notified we shut down the server and the database to prevent any access," the message also says.
Recruitireland.com says it is doing everything necessary to have the website back up and running as soon as possible.
