LulzSec denies responsibility for UK census breach

Hacker group LulzSec has just tweeted it is not responsible for the alleged hacking of the UK 2011 census, containing records on every single UK citizen who gave their details to the census.

“Just saw the pastebin of the UK census hack. That wasn't us - don't believe fake LulzSec releases unless we put out a tweet first.”

It now seems LulzSec’s exploits are attracting either copy cats or attention seekers with fake claims.

The exploit was boasted about on Pastebin, by an individual or group claiming to be LulzSec. The data is expected to be released on ThePirateBay.

The UK census was completed by 27m homes in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The UK Office of National Statistics said it was investigating the issue, but saw no evidence of a breach.
