RSA announces collaboration with mobile app specialist FeedHenry

Mobile app developer FeedHenry is collaborating with RSA, which will see it integrate the security vendor’s mobile authentication technologies into its platform.

Waterford-based FeedHenry provides a cloud-based platform that lets large organisations build and deploy mobile apps, and exposes common mobile application components to software developers.

RSA announced this week it would be working with the Irish company to expose its mobile authentication technology from the FeedHenry mobile application Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).

In a statement, FeedHenry CEO Cathal McGloin said the agreement was aimed at addressing corporate CIOs’ concerns around layers of security, user authentication and control. It comes against a backdrop of huge growth in smartphone use and trends like ‘bring your own device to work’ movement where users expect to have existing work applications available on their own mobile device.

“The integration of RSA’s authentication technologies in the FeedHenry solution will help protect an organisation’s mobile app initiatives by measuring risk indicators that identify high-risk and suspicious activities. This is extremely relevant to many industries we work with, such as healthcare, finance, government and retail,” said McGloin.

The announcement is one of several partnerships RSA is working on for its authentication technology. Other agreements are with the likes of Appcelerator, Citrix, Good Technology, Juniper Networks, VMware and Zscaler.

FeedHenry works across a range of mobile platforms, including Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7, Nokia and the mobile web.

The company recently signed an exclusive partnership with Telefónica Digital that will see its mobile arm O2 launch a platform to let businesses of any size build their own mobile apps. Following an agreement between FeedHenry and O2 in Ireland, Aer Lingus has already used the service to launch a mobile app.
