The global quest to develop higher professional standards and qualifications for IT professionals has received a welcome boost with the news that the NUI Maynooth-headquartered Innovation Value Institute’s IT-CMF (IT Capability Maturity Framework) is being launched in Japan.

The Innovation Value Institute (IVI) is a not-for-profit technology research and education institution, co-founded by the National University of Ireland, Maynooth and Intel Corporation. Currently, the consortium is made up of more than 90 organisations, such as NTT DATA, BP, Intel Corporation, Fujitsu, Ernst & Young, Chevron, Microsoft, Boston Consulting Group, SAP, Miller Coors, BNY Mellon, Zurich Insurance, Lloyds Bank Group, Shell and Cisco Systems.

IT-CMF has been adopted in many US and European organisations, which are benefiting from significant improvements in how they manage IT to deliver value and enable innovation for their businesses.

Big in Japan

IVI is already collaborating with some of Japan’s leading academic institutions and businesses to establish an ecosystem which will enable the IVI to extend the breadth and depth of services available to Japanese organisations to help transform how information technology (IT) will be managed in the future to deliver more value and innovation.

“The management best practices of the IT-CMF can enable Japanese CIOs and IT managers to accelerate the trend of using information technology to innovate for their enterprises,” Yoshie Munakata, assistant general manager of Intel Japan, said.

“IT-CMF will be a strong driver for the Japanese industry to regain its competitiveness – Intel Japan will support the transformation of Japan through our business activity in co-operation with IVI and Intel Labs,” Munakata said.
