Havok AI and Physics to power new Guild Wars 2 game from NCsoft

Dublin headquartered games software company Havok has licensed its AI and Physics software to NCsoft and ArenaNet for the creation of the of MMO game Guilds War 2.

Guild Wars 2 allows players to directly influence the state of the world through game play and player interactions.

ArenaNet was able to utilize Havok AI to generate a diverse set of navigable spaces in a large, dynamic and open world.

Physics was leveraged for basic character movement and more complex behaviour such as during combat.

“Guild Wars 2 changes the MMO playing field as we know it and we are excited to be a part of such an innovative title,” Havok CEO David Coghlan said.

“Our dedicated team worked closely with ArenaNet to make sure that they got the most out of Havok AI and Havok Physics to support highly dynamic environments and game play for the most vibrant gaming experience.”
