Siemens Business Services has said that it is creating 60 new IT jobs at its Customer Interaction Centre in Cork.
The new jobs come about as a result of an expansion of Siemens’ services to offer outsourced IT helpdesk services to companies across the world from Cork.
So far, 20 of the positions have been filled and recruitment is under way for the remaining 40 IT workers, bringing the number of employees at Siemens Business Services in Ireland to 400, with 200 based in Cork.
Siemens Business Services’ managing director, Derek Wilson, explained that the jobs will be at the skilled high-end of the IT services market and will “represent an important contract win for us providing IT helpdesk services to a large global customer.
“We feel that Ireland is an excellent location to form part of our global service offering giving us the right mix of people and technology necessary to meet the needs of our clients both now and in the future,” Wilson said.
The jobs news comes during a week of positive job creation in the Irish technology industry, following internet auction giant eBay’s creation of 800 new jobs for Blanchardstown and 80 new jobs in Athlone with games systems manufacturer Alienware.
