International e-security body to open Irish branch

The inaugural meeting of the Irish chapter of the global Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) is to take place this week. The main goal of the organisation is to promote practices that ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of IT resources.

The meeting is expected to be opened by government chief whip and Minister for the Information Society, Mary Hanafin TD. The meeting will also be attended by Winn Schwartau, one of the most widely consulted experts in the field of information security, who will address the gathering.

The organisation is open to membership from professionals that are responsible for information security in companies or specialist service providers, educators, students, attorneys and law enforcement officers that have a vested interest in information and data security and professionals that market or supply security products and services.

The inaugural event will be held this Wednesday at 17.30pm at the Davenport Hotel. Further information can be attained at www.issaireland.org.
