Vodafone launches Mobile Connect Card

Vodafone has launched its Mobile Connect Card for its business customers.

As reported in siliconrepublic.com last week, the new plug and play mobile data service will be available from 15 April.

It will allow customers to connect to their corporate LANs (local area networks) and business applications, access value-added information services and the internet while they are away from the office.

CEO Vodafone Ireland Paul Donovan said: “This is a key global business product for Vodafone and demonstrates how one core idea can become a worldwide solution for our customers. These simple solutions will help to drive efficiencies, facilitate better time management and allow for more control of your work.”

According to Vodafone, Mobile Connect Card provides a simple end-to-end solution that can be accessed across Vodafone’s extensive global GPRS data network at home or abroad.

It is easily installed on a laptop PC and a customised branded GPRS data card provides optimal services on Vodafone networks, ensuring high quality of service, said a company statement.

The solution will be available through Vodafone’s dedicated corporate accounts team as well as through retail outlets and will cost €247 excluding Vat. There is an additional SIM rental charge of €7.50 per month. Usage will then be charged at GPRS rates.

The company has also announced a suite of new GPRS tariffs designed to reward usage. Memory of up to 5MB will be charged at €2 per MB, up to 20MB will be charged at 1.50 per MB, and over 20MB will be charged at €1 per MB.

Text messages will be charged at the following rates: up to 50 messages will cost 10c each, 50-100 messages will cost 8.5c each and over 100 messages will be charged at 7c each.
