Junior Enterprise and Employment Minister Michael Ahern TD has announced a €300,000 donation from Seabrook Research enterprise resource planning software to the Carlow Institute of Technology.
The company said that over the coming year the MFG/PRO software would be incorporated into a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the institute providing students with hands-on enterprise application experience. Seabrook consultants will also provide on-site training in supply chain management and manufacturing control systems.
Sean O’Sullivan, managing director of Seabrook, said: “Students that have been trained in business software systems such as MFG/PRO will bring major benefits to the companies that they join on graduation.”
Minister Ahern said: “This is a very practical example of co-operation between industry and education and the advantages for the students of Carlow Institute of Technology are very evident.”
MFG/PRO has been developed by QAD Inc. QAD has a major software development facility at Plassey Industrial Estate in Limerick as well as facilities in California and Amsterdam.
