It has emerged that just under 140 workers are to be made redundant at the Swords-based tech support call centre of global business process outsourcing provider Clientlogic.
The bad news comes as the company revealed increased sales and customer satisfaction and said it was looking forward to a prosperous 2007.
It also revealed that it was creating 900 new positions at facilities at New Mexico in the US and Ontario in Canada.
It is understood that Clientlogic will be retaining 400 staff at its Swords operation.
Nashville-headquartered Clientlogic provides back office services to international firms from 49 operations in 13 countries across the world.
Customers of the company include BT, ABN Amro, Sony Corporation. It handles more than 500,000 customer interactions on behalf of such companies every day.
The decision follow recent job cuts at Maxtor (100 jobs) in Bray and Creative (230 jobs).
A further 1,260 jobs at the west Dublin operation of Xerox and 500 jobs at the Sandyford operation of Vodafone are currently undergoing a strategic review at the respective companies.
