A €5m outsourcing contract between pan-European logistics and supply chain management firm TDG and food and drinks manufacturer Danone has been signed following a €3m investment at TDG’s Clonshaugh operations. The contract will pave the way for 20 new jobs.

The deal will see Danone use TDG as its outsourcing partner for the provision and service delivery of a fully managed national chilled foods distribution hub for its business in Ireland.

The 45,000 sq ft TDG facility, based in Clonshaugh, Dublin, has recently undergone a €3m investment programme to equip it with the latest warehousing equipment and technologies to meet the specific needs of an emerging chilled foods sector in Ireland.

Over 20 new jobs have been created as a result of this development with employment numbers at the facility projected to double within one year.

The new service now completes TDG’s full service portfolio offering for its customers covering national distribution, warehousing, import and export freight management across Europe, inbound logistics, supply chain management and contract account management.

John McCormick, managing director of TDG, said: “Today’s announcement is of strategic significance not only for TDG, but for the industry as a whole. For the first time in this country, producers with chilled foods storage and distribution requirements can avail of the new and innovative shared-user national chilled distribution hub solution TDG is now providing.”
