Arekibo acquires X Communications for an undisclosed sum

Dublin-based digital business consultancy Arekibo has acquired digital media agency X Communications for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition comes as part of a longer term strategy to launch into the UK market in 2014.

X Communications has more than 19 years of experience in creative and digital technology under its belt and has a large customer base that includes Croke Park, Davy Stockbrokers, Engineers Ireland and McCann Fitzgerald.

Likewise Arekibo has an impressive pedigree that extends back to developing the Book of Kells for CD-ROM in the 1990s to its recent launch of the Book of Kells for the iPad.

Both companies will continue to offer multi-channel digital business solutions to enterprises, government and international organisations.

Expansion plans

“Arekibo is focused on providing our customers with great services, backed up by a highly experienced and brilliant team,” said CEO Martin Casey.

“With X Communications on board, it enables us to continue to grow our business in terms of client offering and customer base.

“We will continue to invest in both companies, ensuring we are delivering the greatest choice and capabilities to our clients and keeping ahead of the ever changing digital landscape. This announcement is part of our expansion plans in 2013 in the Irish and UK markets.”

The founder and CEO of X Communications Marie Redmond will move to an advisory role at the company.

“Arekibo and X Communications share a common vision of putting our clients at the heart of everything we do and supporting them to build their online relationships,” Redmond said.

The X Communications team will relocate to Arekibo’s new 6,000 sq ft headquarters in Dublin 2.

“We are very excited about this union which creates Ireland’s leading digital consultancy. For our current customers it will be business as usual. They continue to work with their client services team as before but with the added benefit of being able to avail of additional services from Arekibo and its comprehensive set of multi-channel solutions from mobile to web and advertising,” Redmond said.
