Belfast firm in queue-management deal

9 Oct 2007

Belfast-based electronics and security company ESS has signed a distribution agreement with UK queue-management company Qm Group which will see the latter’s technology being made available to retailers across Ireland.

ESS already provides Irish retailers with security systems and EPoS (electronic point of sale) systems. Its customers include KFC and Subway.

ESS will assume responsibility for the marketing, sales, installation and post-sales support for all of Qm’s solutions. It has recently completed the installation of an electronic call-forward system into Shannon Airport.

Qm Group has already installed more than 6,000 systems in the UK and the US with customers including The Post Office, Lloyds TSB, Argos and Boots.

Every month nearly 30 million consumers pass through Qm’s systems.

The drive to grow sales is part of Qm’s parent company Q-Matic’s strategy to become the world’s leading provider of queue management solutions.

The Q-Matic group already has customers and operations in more than 20 countries worldwide.

ESS’s managing director Ken Armstrong commented: “We believe there is a real growth opportunity in queue management solutions across Ireland. Many of the retailers on the UK mainland have these systems and are realising real benefits from them and we are looking to deliver such solutions into the Irish marketplace.”
