Telecoms company BT has appointed its president of BT Global Services Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America Luis Alvarez as CEO, BT Global Services, effective 1 October.
Alvarez, who has been with BT for 12 years in various roles, takes over from Jeff Kelly, who is returning to the US following nearly three years as CEO, BT Global Services.
Alvarez will lead the BT Global Services team to ensure the levels of support its customers receive continue to improve when it comes to managed networked IT services.
Alvarez said he sees great opportunities for BT Global Services in the marketplace.
“The global economy is going through a period of rapid change and the BT Global Services team is well placed to support companies through that period of uncertainty and opportunity,” Alvarez said.
“We have a strong business in the UK, mature operations in key economies and are expanding our presence in the fastest-growing parts of the world. These are strong foundations that we will build on.”
Kelly will continue to work for BT, as a senior executive adviser to BT in the US in a part-time capacity.
