The European subsidiary of one of the world’s largest online gaming providers Gala Networks has signed a €400,000 deal with Cable & Wireless in Ireland to host its services at the telecoms firm’s Dublin data centre.

Gala, whose parent company is headquartered in Japan, is responsible for popular online games such as Flyff, Space Cowboy Online, Rappelz, Corum Online and Upshift StrikeRacer.

The company’s community portal gPotato allows gamers to access all of its services and micro-currency. The Flyff game alone has over one million registered users.

Cable & Wireless’ data centre in Clonshaugh provides Gala with direct connectivity to the telecoms firm’s global IP network.

“We wanted a reputable data centre partner that could provide us with the highest quality technical infrastructure and a scaleable platform to allow us to develop and grow our European gaming market,” explained Gala Networks Europe’s chief operating officer Gus Hur.

The initial two year contract with Cable & Wireless brings Gala’s core infrastructure closer to its European market base.

This €400,000 deal covers building, hosting, management and network connectivity for Gala’s European online gaming platform.
