Cape Clear in major US education deal

Irish web services software company Cape Clear has won a contract with the Ohio Board of Regents to manage seamless data transfer between various state-assisted higher education institutions and the Articulation and Transfer Clearinghouse (ATC) project.

Cape Clear’s enterprise service bus (ESB) technology will form the backbone of a flexible, secure and scalable system to move student transcript data between the institutions and the ATC.

Based on open standards such as web services, the system will be designed to meet future changes in administrative policies and technologies.

In addition to facilitating the exchange of transcripts amongst Ohio state-assisted higher education institutions, the ATC helps ensure accurate, consistent and equitable treatment of key courses during transfer, evaluation and planning.

The ATC should be able to use Cape Clear’s ESB to provide a state-of-the-art web services solution to provide a future platform for transcript exchange by high schools, private institutions and career or technical institutions.

“The Ohio Board of Regents needs the type of flexible solution inherent in a web services architecture using business rules and business process management software,” said Annrai O’Toole, the chief executive of Cape Clear.

“Cape Clear’s standards-based ESB gives the ATC accuracy and efficiency with student and administrative data as well as the flexibility to grow and deliver leading-edge business solutions that will have a real impact on the students and faculty at Ohio’s institutions of higher education.”
