Cape Clear signs major North American deals

Dublin web services firm Cape Clear has signed major multimillion dollar deals with two North American content management software companies, one in the US and the second in Canada.

In the first deal, the company’s web services technology will be included in Pindar Systems’ multi-channel content management platform. Chicago-based Pindar’s content management technology powers multi-channel commerce, defined as the management and delivery of content through print and electronic media to drive sales.

“When you are publishing information to customers or distributors there is a rich variety of data and sources involved,” commented Simon Walker, director of product management at Pindar Systems. “Integration is often about data types and formats as well as actual IT systems and Cape Clear is providing a web services based approach to bringing all this different data together which can then take advantage of the power of the Agility platform.”

“Organisations turn to Pindar Systems to assist them in driving business revenue with their customers and business partners,” according to Bob Walmsley, COO at Cape Clear. “A key part of this process is bringing together business information that resides in different systems and uses different data formats. We have focused on easing the integration of these different data sources, making the business process faster and more productive.”

In the second major deal, Cape Clear has formed a working partnership with Toronto-based Wysdom, a provider of mobile network operating system software. The company will use Cape Clear’s web services technology to make it easier for mobile network operators to integrate and deliver third party content and services to their customers.

The deal will see Cape Clear’s software combined with Wysdom’s MAP-OS mobile network operating system to enable mobile operators to rapidly launch new business services and applications based on major telecom standards like Parlay X.

“The power of integrated business information was proven on the Internet, and mobile applications will take it even further,” said David Annan, chief operating officer of Wysdom. “The partnership of Wysdom and Cape Clear benefits all those involved in mobile application services: the operator enjoys a host of new revenue-generating opportunities, the partner enjoys faster time to market of their new applications, and the customer enjoys a wider choice of working solutions and services.”

“The competition in the mobile telecom market puts operators under constant pressure to deliver new revenue opportunities,” said Cape Clear’s Walmsley. “Traditionally, offering new services has been slow and costly, but the advent of Web Services and vendors such as Wysdom is radically simplifying the entire process. By using Cape Clear, Wysdom can offer operators a profitable means of delivering new products and garnering new revenue.”

Dublin-based Cape Clear was established in 1999 by Iona co-founder Annrai O’Toole and in 2001 the firm raised US$16m in venture capital from Accel Partners, Greylock Capital and Dublin-based ACT Venture Capital.

Cape Clear’s content management deals come hot on the heals of a US$3m deal signed by Galway-based rate management and billing software firm Am-beo and US telecom giant Western Wireless, which owns a majority stake in Irish mobile firm Meteor Communications.
