Online car rental technology firm CarTrawler has struck a deal with Faroe Islands airline Atlantic Airways.

CarTrawler will be supplying the Faroese carrier with access to over 450 branded and independent car rental suppliers in 17,000 locations and 130 countries around the world.

CarTrawler will supply its car-rental content across all Atlantic Airways’ sales channels, presenting car-rental options in an unbiased display within the airline’s online booking flow.

“CarTrawler is the largest provider of car-rental booking solutions in the world, with an audience of over 120 million passengers,” said Henny á Líknargøtu, marketing co-ordinator of Atlantic Airways.

“The fact that CarTrawler provides us with a multi-supplier option in all of our key destinations made the choice a simple and obvious one for us,” Líknargøtu added.

CarTrawler will also enable Atlantic to upsell car rental at key customer touch points from the point of booking until just before departure.

This is the first time Atlantic Airways will offer online car rental to its customers. The airline flies between the Faroe Islands and Copenhagen and Billund in Denmark, Reykjavík – Iceland, UK – London, Sweden – Stockholm and Norway – Stavanger.

“By working with CarTrawler, Atlantic Airways is adding an important revenue stream to its bottom line,” said Robin White, sales manager, CarTrawler.

“It has a streamlined, but strong, route network and we are confident car rental will be a key part of the booking choice in the years to come,” White added.
