4 Nov 2010

Cork-based parking solutions company GlobeTech Ltd has secured a contract worth €2.2m with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport.

The contract is the second that GlobeTech has secured with the DoT’s parking authority Mawaqif as part of its new parking management project for Abu Dhabi.

Some 71,000 on-street and off-street parking spaces are managed under the project, making it the largest parking project in the world.

The announcement was made during the Enterprise Ireland trade mission to the Middle East, led by Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O’Keeffe TD.

The DoT set up Mawaqif to provide a world-class central parking management system in the capital of the UAE and resolve the growing problem of congestion and parking in the city.

Mawaqif selected GlobeTech as its partner of choice to provide its innovative central parking management system.

On 2 May, 2010, gTicket, Phase 1 was launched to manage 71,000 on-street and off-street parking spaces.

GlobeTech has a long history of working within the parking management sector. The gTicket solution is firmly established within many major local authorities within the Republic of Ireland and the UK, employing 55 people.

“Years of experience in providing parking enforcement solutions have provided GlobeTech Ltd with invaluable insight into the needs of its customers when it comes to every aspect of parking management,” Kevin Kiely, CEO of GlobeTech, said.

“This expertise, combined with our keen customer focus, from initial specification through to implementation and ongoing support, is what we feel sets us apart from our competitors.”

Frank Ryan, CEO of Enterprise Ireland, added: “The UAE is a key growth market for Irish exports. GlobeTech is a prime example of what Irish companies can achieve globally by providing a world-leading, high-tech solution.”
