Cork firm launches into Japanese consumer electronics market

Cork technology company RedMere has won a deal with consumer electronics player Miyoshi to launch ultra slim high-speed HDMI cables with Ethernet into the Japanese market.

The mini-HDMI cables will be suitable for use in some of the top-of-the-range digital cameras, DSLRs, camcorders, smartphones and tablet computers.

This is the first time that an active, ultra-portable mini-HDMI cable has been launched in the Japanese market.

Miyoshi has produced a line of RedMere-enabled active, thin 2-metre cables with both C-type (mini-HDMI) and D-type (micro-HDMI) connectors called ultra slim high-speed HDMI cables with Ethernet.

The cables have a diameter of just 2.4mm and are 70pc thinner than standard HDMI cables. The cables are 3D and 4K2K compatible.

“Active cable technology provided by RedMere is becoming adopted by more and more brands worldwide,” said RedMere’s CEO, Ruud van der Linden.

“We are delighted to work with MIYOSHI CORP as our brand partner in Japan in introducing the new Mini-HDMI cable to the market there.

“This is the thinnest, most flexible and most portable Mini-HDMI cable in the domestic CE market in Japan today – the obvious choice for the professional or recreational photographer or filmmaker,” van der Linden said.
