Dublin-based Crannog Software today announced that AIB has chosen its Netwatch product suite as a primary network management platform for use throughout the bank’s network.
The value of the deal was not disclosed. Crannog claimed that the suite, which includes Netwatch, Netflow Monitor, Netwhere and the Network Element Database, cuts the number of man-hours per week required for network troubleshooting tasks. The technology also assists more accurate capacity planning across the global network.
With more than 1,500 individual communications devices on its network, AIB needed a technology that could monitor the activity on its IT infrastructure across all wide area links for over 16,000 users worldwide.
“We required an in-depth understanding of network traffic profiles per user and per application to enable us to move towards a new internal business model for billing IT services,” Mike O’Brien, eTec Enterprise Management Specialist at AIB, explained.
Crannog’s Netwatch Suite extracts network statistics either directly from end devices or through element managers and/or reporting engines. The information is presented in web-based interactive maps indicating the health of network services.
Crannog worked with AIB on product development to allow the software to be customised to the bank’s exact requirements.
Crannog was founded in 1998 by Mike McGrath, a director of Eircom’s network integration arm LAN Communications, along with other Lan Comms management.
