BT in major data networks deal with PSNI

BT has signed a multi-million pound contract to provide the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) with a fully managed Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network.

Specifically, BT will provide a Northern Ireland wide area network (WAN) across PSNI’s sites for the next five years.

This infrastructure will enable the PSNI’s mission-critical IT systems to be delivered across Northern Ireland at high speeds, providing the flexibility needed for modern policing to deliver services and information when and where needed.

The fully managed MPLS network has been designed to provide the PSNI’s business functions and operational team with a resilient, agile and flexible service to support its growth and deliver greater cost efficiencies, while enhancing the user experience.

Hey! Creative Communications partners with Kor-Anga

Hey! Creative Communications, the boutique creative agency pioneered by 22-year-old entrepreneur Garrett O’Hare, has announced a partnership with global online marketing company Kor-Anga.

The Newry-headquartered company provides contemporary and online communications solutions. It has offices in London and Dublin and has plans to set up in New York.

Israeli-based Kor-Anga offers end-to-end marketing service solutions for all online needs. Its aim is to increase conversions and improve its clients’ online presence.

Hey! group will be the the media medium through which Kor-Anga will access the UK and Ireland’s marketing industry. It will be working with the company to promote its services this side of the world, which includes the use of Kenshoo technology, a technology platform for search marketing and online advertising.

Xilinx acquires Belfast telecoms start-up Omiino

Omiino Limited, a Belfast-based telecoms start-up, has been acquired by Silicon Valley chip giant Xilinx – the world’s leading provider of programmable logic devices – for an undisclosed sum.

Omiino was founded in mid-2007 through an initial funding round of US$1.5m led by Belfast-based Crescent Capital. It has since achieved significant global success with its highly innovative optical transport network (OTN) technology solutions, which are now used by some of the world’s leading telecoms suppliers.

Xilinx, a company that designs and makes programmable microchips, employs 250 people at its EMEA headquarters in Dublin. The HQ runs an IT, research, development and engineering centre, along with centralised HR, legal, finance and supply chain management functions.

Havok joins forces with Sony Ericsson for Xperia PLAY

Irish gaming technology company Havok has forged an alliance with Sony Ericsson to optimise Havok’s physics technology for Android developers making games for the Xperia PLAY.

Havok has now fully ported all seven of its products to Gingerbread (version 2.3), the latest version of Google’s Android platform and partnered closely with Sony Ericsson to deliver a specifically optimised runtime.

“As part of Havok’s overall support for the Android platform, we are very pleased to partner with Sony Ericsson to put the full power of the Havok product line into the hands of Xperia PLAY developers,” Havok’s managing director David Coghlan explained.
