Azotel signs broadband deal with South Africa firm

Cork-based Azotel Technologies has secured a contract to provide its technology to Wirulink Pty Ltd, a South Africa-based broadband services and network provider. The deal is valued at €3m in the next two years for South Africa alone.

The announcement was made during the Enterprise Ireland trade mission to South Africa, led by Minister for Trade and Development Jan O’Sullivan.

Azotel will be contracted for Subscriber Management on the Wirulink Wireless Broadband Network, which will now deploy the SIMPLer platform to operate and manage its customer base.

Wirulink provides affordable and fast wireless telephone and data services to corporate, commercial and home users in South Africa.

Waterford’s EirGen Pharma partners with South African firm

EirGen Pharma, while on an Enterprise Ireland trade mission to South Africa, has secured a significant partnership agreement with South African pharmaceuticals company Equity Pharmaceuticals to develop and commercially supply five oncology products from its Waterford facility.

The deal size between EirGen Pharma and Equity Pharmaceuticals is €3m per annum, based on an anticipated 20pc market share of the €15m market for this portfolio of oncology products, said Enterprise Ireland.

Accenture completes acquisition of Zenta

Global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company Accenture has completed its acquisition of Zenta, a provider of residential and commercial mortgage processing services in the United States.

The acquisition – which was announced on 22 August 2011 – will see Zenta’s 3,700 employees in India, the US and the Philippines join Accenture.

The deal expands Accenture’s ability to help lenders, servicers and real-estate investment trusts retool and streamline their operations, enhance customer experience, and improve profitability in response to new market conditions, while enhancing Accenture’s business process outsourcing (BPO) portfolio.

Zenta’s mortgage processing capabilities are a key component of Accenture Credit Services, a full-service consulting, technology and BPO capability that supports institutions in the residential mortgage, commercial real estate, leasing and automotive finance industries.

Havok and Autodesk enter agreement to enhance Vision Engine

Irish games technology company Havok will enter a licence agreement with 3D software company Autodesk which will bring new features for the Havok Vision Engine.

The agreement will integrate the Havok Vision Engine with the full functionality of Autodesk Scaleform and Beast middleware. It will enhance Vision Engine’s toolset with a new UI and global illumination functionalities.

Scaleform offers Flash 10 and ActionScript 3.0 user interfaces and includes extensive multi-language chat capabilities. Beast middleware features realistic lighting capabilities.

These additions will boost the Vision Engine platform and let teams of all sizes deliver content and gaming experiences across numerous devices and operating systems.
