Irish nanoscience research gets €15.5m funding boost

As a result of €15.5m in EU funding, nanoscience research institute CRANN will create 17 new R&D jobs and lead two major European nano research projects in the areas of cancer research and next-generation computer chips. The first 12 R&D jobs to be created as a result of this CRANN funding will be within the Institute of Molecular Medicine (IMM) and TCD School of Medicine in partnership with CRANN: this pan-European research team will be working on new nanomedical technology to enable the early and rapid diagnosis of cancer. This project also involves industry-academia collaboration as two Irish SMEs – Cellix Ltd and Radisens Technology – are taking part. The remaining five jobs will be created in partnership with Intel as CRANN leads a European consortium focused on developing a next-gen electronic chip for faster and lighter computing.

MXSweep is elevated to the cloud computing superstore

A Cavan-based cloud software company has been selected to join the influential SaaSplaza incubation centre in the Netherlands – a key location bringing together buyers and suppliers of software-as-a-service technologies. MXSweep, a leading provider of online email security services, and SaaSplaza have revealed the MXSweep services will be available immediately for resale through SaaSplaza global SaaS Platform.

Vodafone opens its 360 Shop to mobile app developers

Vodafone said that developers can publish apps directly to the Vodafone 360 Shop via the Join Innovation Lab (JIL) website JIL.org. This will enable developers to monetise their creations on JIL-enabled handsets. Through the JIL.org website developers can publish apps to selected Vodafone operating companies in Europe.Developers can choose to select from one, some or all of the selected markets for each app they publish.
