Dublin firm wins public sector contracts worth €2m

Dublin data protection and storage area network (SAN) technology firm Sabeo Technologies has signed three public sector contracts worth €2m with the Department of Defence, Geological Survey of Ireland (GSI) and RTÉ.

Sabeo has been contracted to supply and support a highly available and scalable solution for the Deparment of Defence based on a Hewlett-Packard SAN and over 20 servers based in two locations in Ireland. This is one of the largest Linux implementations in a production environment in the country. This project is expected to be completed by the end of July.

In a second contract, Sabeo was contracted by GSI to upgrade its SAN infrastructure. A high-performance, flexible solution was provided that was based on the HP EVA5000, a StorageTek L180 library and Legato Networker software. An important factor in the decision by GSI to choose Sabeo was its proven capability to deliver complex integrated solutions. This solution should be fully implemented early February.

And for RTÉ, Sabeo supplied and installed a SAN solution. The solution provided a mission-critical production environment with automated fast fail-over to secondary systems based in a separate location. The solution was based on industry standard hardware and software components from HP, Cisco and Veritas. Sabeo installed the hardware and software and completed the data migration from old legacy systems. The first phase of this solution will be completed by end-February 2005.

Commenting on the contract wins, Ned McQuaid, chief executive officer of Sabeo said, “We feel that these contracts further enhance our reputation as one of Ireland’s leading systems integration suppliers to the Government and semi-state sectors.

“Securing these contracts, under very competitive tender situations, is a testament to the quality and experience of our people and the level of service our public and private sector customers have come to expect from us,” he added.
