Enterprising Donegal Business Awards open for nominations

18 Jan 2011

Donegal County Enterprise Board (DCEB) is encouraging businesses to enter this year’s Enterprising Donegal Business Awards, previous winners of which include Gartan Technologies.

The awards are aimed at small and micro businesses and there are a number of award categories, including innovation, business growth, business achievement, export, new business start-up and business of the year.

Each year an overall county award is made to one of the finalists, and this company goes on to represent Donegal in the National Enterprise Awards.

“The awards acknowledge the talent and determination of small businesses in the county. Despite the tough economic conditions, local businesses are continuing to succeed and innovate. The awards are a great way to publicise your business and get recognition for you and your staff,” says Michael Tunney, chief executive, Donegal County Enterprise Board.

Gartan Technologies last year’s winner

The winner of the business of the year award for 2010 was Malachi Eastwood of Letterkenny-based Gartan Technologies, which produces software systems for fire and rescue services.

“Winning the award was a positive endorsement and vindication of our work,” he said. “Being able to tell prospective customers and the wider market that we were recognised in this way helped us win contracts.”

The closing date for this year’s Enterprising Donegal Business Awards 2011 is 31 January.
