Facebook is preparing to move into a new office in downtown Seattle, Washington, that could accommodate about 2,000 employees.
That’s according to a Bloomberg source who claims the social network has signed a lease for most of the new Dexter Station building in the South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle.
If reports are true, Facebook will be taking over almost 275,000 sq feet – the 10-story complex boasts a total of 345,992 sq feet – in a deal that would increase the amount of real estate the company occupies worldwide by about 9pc.
The company already rents about 100,000 square feet for 400 Seattle workers at the Metropolitan Park East building.
Last October, Facebook agreed to double the size of its base in the Dublin Docklands area with an adjoining office, to take its total space up to 250,000 sq feet.
Having occupied offices on 4 Grand Canal Square back in 2011, the firm agreed to also rent block five, which is similar in size to No 4 with an office space floor plan of 125,798 sq feet.
