It has emerged that social networking site Facebook which has over 250m users worldwide, is planning to grow its staff numbers by 50pc.
According to an interview with Bloomberg, Facebook’s 26 year-old CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the company has been taking advantage of the recession and the surplus of engineers and has been hiring to beat the band. “No one else is hiring,” he told the business newswire.

The popular social networking site now has 250m users and over the past year has been putting significant muscle into growing its online advertising capability.
The company, established in a Harvard dorm in 2004, is expected to post at least US$500m in revenue and has signed major deals with brands like JC Penney and Nike
In recent months Russian investment group Sky Technologies paid US$200m for a 2pc stake in Facebook, valuing it at US$10bn and bringing its total investment raised to date to US$600m. Software giant Microsoft has a 1.6pc stake in Facebook.
