FÁS courses fail to deliver trainee certificates

Up to 1,000 trainees who participated in privately run FÁS training courses have not yet received their certificates.

The privately run courses in the northeast have failed to produced certificates, it was revealed by the Department of Education during parliamentary questions.

968 trainees

The department said were issues relating to courses in the northeast and that 968 trainees still have not received their certificates.

A number of courses run by privately run operators have recently been reviewed by FÁS and a spokesperson gave assurances that all trainees would receive their certificates.

Earlier this month, it was announced that trainees who took part in certain FÁS courses provided by privately run operators would need to be re-trained and re-sit exams before receiving their certificates.
