Glen Dimplex, the Irish heating and domestic appliances manufacturer, has signed a deal with Geac to use the enterprise software firm’s warehouse management system. Glen Dimplex has also extended its existing maintenance contract with Geac and has agreed to implement its System21 Aurora enterprise resource planning (ERP) package.
The initial deal involves a three-year contract which will see Geac and its partner, the data capture specialist Indigo Software, supply an automated warehouse management system to Glen Dimplex for use at the company’s new facility in the UK. The two companies’ existing maintenance agreement has also been extended and is now set to run until March 2007.
Commenting on the deal, Mark Kirk, head of IT for Glen Dimplex Group, said: “The warehouse management solution in the UK will not only provide us with a fully automated system but will give us a real-time view of stock movement in the facility. Also by upgrading to System21 Aurora we hope to further enhance our operational flexibility and customer responsiveness.”
Aidan Keogh, general manager for Geac Ireland added that technical advances made to Geac System21 Aurora were integral to securing both the warehousing and maintenance agreements. “Our significant investment in Geac System21 Aurora development is already showing a return,” he said.
