Harmony, a Dublin-based specialist in home-automation technology, has been acquired by the broadband provider Industria for an undisclosed fee.
The company is being rebranded as Industria Living and will serve as the home-automation and installation division of the parent company, which currently operates in Ireland, Iceland, the UK, Bulgaria and China.
Dealing primarily with property developers, private home owners, architects and interior designers, Industria Living designs and installs multi-room audio and video, lighting and heating control, remotely monitored security systems, IPTV, structured cabling systems and digital telephone systems.
Following the acquisition, Industria said it can now provide the full range of infrastructure and services needed to supply a ‘digital living’ type of environment to homes, businesses and other premises. A spokesman for the company said that there were no plans for further acquisitions in Ireland. “Harmony was the missing piece in the jigsaw that makes Industria a full-service operator, providing everything from network design and blowing fibre to the provision of channel content and programming for VoD ,” he said.
Harmony founder Tom Fitzpatrick is to take on the role of manager at Industria Living following the acquisition. “In addition to giving the company an international dimension, it gives us a much greater ability to cater for larger residential developments, as well as private home custom installations,” Fitzpatrick said. In order to cater for extra demand, Industria Living has already taken on additional staff, he added.
