Ireland’s best days lie ahead – Enterprise Ireland CEO

Frank Ryan’s vision for Ireland five years from now is a connected economy and a hotspot of innovation.

There is an oft quoted statistic whereby it is envisaged some 80pc of the Irish economy’s exports will be services-based in 2020. You can be pretty sure the majority of these services will depend on this country having world-standard broadband and digital connectivity.

I make this point to Enterprise Ireland CEO Frank Ryan who has, over his career, made a considerable contribution to the industrial make-up of the Irish economy. In the Nineties, he led the IDA Ireland team that landed the multi-billion Intel project for the country.

Ryan, who will be a speaker at the 17th Annual Telecommunications and Internet Federation Conference on 12 October in Dublin, agrees wholeheartedly with this digital vision.
