Macromedia has designs on Irish market

Macromedia, the company synonymous with cutting-edge internet design and Flash technology, is establishing a bridgehead in the Irish marketplace with the creation of a new Irish office and a distribution alliance with Microwarehouse, has learned.

The launch of the company’s first Irish office will coincide with the launch of the company’s MX 2004 range of products to the Irish web and application development community in mid-September.

Until now, the company served the Irish market through a number of UK-based distributors. Under the new structure MicroWarehouse will be the company’s sole distributor and will manage and grow a new network of resellers in the Irish market, offering some same day delivery on Macromedia products, explained new country manager Ann O’Sullivan.

In a separate development, Macromedia has appointed Micromail and Multimedia Solutions in Dublin as its direct education specialists responsible for delivering licenced Macromedia products to schools, colleges, training centres and universities.

According to O’Sullivan the company has appointed Dublin-based Web Intellect to be its only official Macromedia Authorised Training Partner in Ireland, delivering courses on Macromedia products with globally-recognised web, application and multimedia development certificates.

In mid-September, Macromedia will be launching its next generation Studio MX 2004 range of products which will be bundled in a similar manner to Microsoft’s Office family. These will include industry-leading development tools such as Flash, DreamWeaver and Fireworks. An additional version of Studio MX 2004 will include Macromedia Flash MX Professional 2004, which translates the Flash suite into a Visual Basic-style work template accessible by application developers involved in the creation of complex media-rich websites, CDs and DVDs.
