Noel Curran’s appointment as the new director general of RTÉ has been welcomed by Minister for Communications Eamon Ryan TD.
The national broadcaster announced that Curran will serve five years in his new role. Ryan congratulated Curran on his appointment and remained confident that the State broadcaster’s standards would be upheld.
Audience appreciation
“RTÉ continues to play a central role in the national conversation. Noel brings a wealth of experience and imagination to this position – strong investigative instincts coupled with an appreciation of the needs of the audience.
“I am confident that RTÉ will maintain the highest standards of public service broadcasting under his leadership.”
Curran will serve as director general. He succeeds outgoing Cathal Goan, who will be retiring next year.
“I thank him for his public service and know he will continue contributing to Irish life and language,” Ryan added.
