The recruitment website SalesJobs.ie has set up a sister site catering specifically to IT professionals seeking new jobs or companies looking to hire technical staff.
In addition to providing IT and telecoms job listings, the ComputerJobs.ie site provides additional information for techies planning a career move, such as salary guides, interview and job-hunting techniques and tax advice.
A section of the site is dedicated to contractors in the sector and there are also listings on IT courses, IT trainers and IT recruitment specialists. Employers can also access online guidelines for attracting high-calibre staff in competitive markets.
Announcing the news, the company referred to indicators of growing demand for staff with IT skills and said there was a need for a site catering for the specific requirements of technically skilled employees. Over the coming months ComputerJobs.ie will be marketed heavily to attract highly skilled jobseekers in Ireland, the company said. The site will be headed by director Niall Kelly, a 15-year veteran of the IT recruitment industry who is also a director of SalesJobs.ie.
Kelly claimed that the dedicated jobs site for the IT sector in Ireland was “long overdue”, adding that three out of four Irish people now go online when considering a career move. “With the net becoming so vast, surfers are finding it more difficult to source specific information. Hence, we agree with the founders of Google that niche is the correct way forward and have provided two websites specifically catering for both the sales and IT professional,” he said.
“According to the latest DCU jobs survey, IT job vacancies have risen by 42pc in the last year, with 13,400 IT jobs advertised on the web. In addition to the increase in IT jobs there has been a sharp decline in graduates taking up IT since the dotcom bubble. We predict as we enter the latter part of 2006 the demand for qualified staff will continue to increase.”
