Revenue Commissioners’ sites achieve ISO security standard

24 Feb 2010

The Irish Revenue Commissioners’ websites have succeeded in achieving the ISO 27001 Certificate, a globally recognised information security standard.

The State’s taxation body achieved the standard for its sites www.revenue.ie and www.ros.ie.

The Revenue Commissioners achieved the ISO 27001 Certificate after being audited by Certification Europe.

The standard is independently audited and sets requirements in areas such as information security organisation, asset and data handling, system planning and development, day-to-day operations, networks, incident handling, compliance, personnel, business continuity systems and physical location security.

There are about 6,100 companies in the world which have achieved the standard of which only 30 are in Ireland.
