Rising costs blamed for Quantum pullout

24 Aug 2005

It emerged this afternoon that some 250 jobs are to be lost at storage technology device manufacturer Quantum Corporation’s European Repair Operations in Dundalk, Co Louth.

The news comes only a day after it emerged that some 550 jobs are to go in Donegal town at the Hospira medical device manufacturing facility.

Last month, digital tape drive manufacturer Quantum said it had commenced a strategic review of its operations. It warned the strategic review might lead to the outsourcing of work from its factory.

It is understood the closure of the plant is scheduled for the second half of next year.
