Salesforce signs tech trio

22 Oct 2003 has signed up three new customers for its online customer relationship management (CRM) offering: Galway’s Am-Beo, Cork-based Scannell Solutions and Dublin firm Similarity Systems.

Am-Beo, which provides billing software to the global telecommunications industry, is using the software to manage sales prospects and a global sales team across offices in Ireland, France, Spain and the US. Scannell Solutions, a software, consulting and training company, is using the technology to develop new business and up-sell to existing customers, while Similarity uses the system for gaining instant access to customer data. provides CRM as a pay-as-you-go service via the internet for a monthly fee per user. As a result there is no need to buy, install or maintain hardware, software, networks or hosting. Neither do users have to invest in upfront licensing charges.

Fergus Gloster, VP, EMEA, claimed that’s software-as-a-service approach continued to win support from Irish industry as reflected in these latest wins. “We are changing the way that software is sold and implemented. While others talk about it, we already have thousands of users in over 100 countries.” Other Irish users include Jurys Doyle Hotels, Cape Clear and Macalla Software.

The company recently introduced sforce, a new service to help developers build software applications. Sforce allows business application developers to use the tools that developers are already familiar with, combined with web services provided by sforce, to build and deploy applications rapidly at a substantially lower cost than before.
