Shannon Development-backed IT firm in UK deal

A Dublin- and Shannon-based IT outsourcing company in which Shannon Development has taken a 5pc stake has won a three-year contract to provide a UK financial services firm with key technology support services.

Original Solutions (OSL) has won a three-year contract with Baseline Capital in the UK to provide development, maintenance and support services on the company’s bespoke software pipeline.

Baseline Capital is part of the Skipton Building Society Group, one of the UK’s foremost financial services organisations and is a leading provider of Basel II credit risk analysis for residential mortgages in the UK.

“Due to the nature of this work, using full-time staff to cover the support and maintenance of our software will not be an efficient use of resources,” explained Suzanne Smith, operations director at Baseline Capital.

“We needed to find a reliable, cost-effective and proven managed services partner who could provide an ongoing managed service for the foreseeable future.”

OSL is providing development, maintenance and support services from OSL’s Near Shore Solutions Centre in Limerick.

The contract was awarded following a competitive tender and OSL was chosen because of the company’s best-practice managed application services delivery using a cost-effective delivery model.

“This contract with OSL will usher in new managed application services and enable us to work more flexibly,” Smith said.

“It is a very significant endorsement of our Near Shore Delivery Service into the UK market,” said Liam O’Reilly, solutions centre manager, OSL.
