Smooth operator in Caribbean rollout

9 Dec 2005

Limerick-based telecoms technology firm Tango Telecom has deployed a convergent billing and messaging solution for Outremer Telecom to provide real-time data services to the islands of Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guiana. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

The company deployed its Tango Convergent Charging Node (CCN) technology as part of a rollout of two compact cellular networks on behalf of Outremer Telecom by wireless broadband technology player Alvarion, a firm that has more than two million units deployed in 130 countries and claims to be leading the WiMax revolution.

“We expect that this first installation will lead to further joint opportunities on a global basis,” explained Colm Ward, Tango’s CEO.

Based at the National Technology Park in Limerick, Tango’s customers include global deployments with major operators such as Turkcell, Vodafone and America Movil. The company’s products are available through a global network of systems integration partners, resellers and original equipment manufacturers.

The Tango CCN was deployed to enable real-time GPRS charging for Outremer’s prepaid and postpaid subscribers.

The Tango CCN provides real-time metering and control of GPRS traffic and content for Outremer’s prepaid subscribers, with a seamless integration to the Alvarion prepaid system. The CCN also provides billable CDRs (call histories) for postpaid subscriber activities.
