Irish e-payments firm Trintech has implemented its PayWare EPS system for Marsh Supermarkets, one of the largest regional grocery chains in the US. The retailer will use the system to automate the delivery of gift certificates.
Nasdaq-listed Marsh employs some 16,000 people and includes amongst its chain of businesses florists, coffee shops and catering firms. Trintech’s technology will enable Marsh to implement an electronic gift card solution that eliminates the need for costly gift certificates. The solution allows gift cards to be issued at the point of sale, through vending machines and over the internet.
The electronic gift certificates can also be redeemed and updated automatically by customers at the checkout or at automated unmanned terminals, reducing the processing costs as well as increasing revenue opportunities.
Trintech’s Payware EPS also has the ability to support other types of prepaid debit products, including Visa and MasterCard branded gift cards, travel cards and payroll cards as well as corporate incentive cards and prepaid mobile top-ups.
Speaking of the implementation, the chairman and CEO of Marsh, Don E.Marsh said: “We can deliver electronic gift cards to our customers that do away with paper vouchers that are difficult and expensive to handle.” Marsh added that the technology would enable the company to streamline its auditing processes.
Tom Trainor, executive vice president of sales at Trintech said that by using PayWare EPS as an in-house solution, “Marsh can control valuable customer information as well as reducing their costs and increasing their revenue from improved efficiencies and greater customer convenience”.
