Trintech to process Celtic FC ticket sales

Dublin-based e-payments firm Trintech has been selected by Scottish Premier League club Celtic FC to automate the processing of all card payments related to ticket sales.

Celtic plans to deploy Trintech’s bank-accredited PayWare Merchant to automate the processing of credit card sales. The server-based solution will manage all card transactions from all the club’s ticket sale operations including tickets sold over the internet.

It is understood that the challenge for the club was to install a product that could handle heavy volumes of high-value transactions securely.

The implementation of PayWare at Celtic FC will enable the club to migrate to chip and pin-enabled transactions that UK banking institutions have backed.

The technology will be jointly installed by Trintech’s established reseller in Newcastle Synchro Systems, which is regarded as having one of the most advanced ticketing applications for both sporting and leisure events.

Paul Taylor of Celtic FC commented: “The aim of the club is to be a leading player on the world’s sports stage and deliver value to our shareholders. By introducing a faster and more secure payment method our supporters have the freedom and choice to buy match tickets whenever it suits them.

“This will also generate increased ticket sales for the club, as we are able to offer our supporters a 24-hour ordering service,” Taylor said.

The addition of Celtic FC brings Trintech’s roster of clients in the sporting field to more than 60. According to Eamon Keating, general manager of Trintech’s retail division: “PayWare Merchant will provide Celtic FC with the option to manage card payments across multi-merchant environments, including retail, internet and mail order.”
